WHAT WE DO FOR YOU
Hodges and Wall believe every business needs a strong finance function and a robust decision making process. Although each client is unique, and our services are always tailored to the client, we use one of four colours to describe how our skill sets are brought to bear on the organisations we work with.
-These will be start-up businesses where the business owner is the business.
-They will be supported by H&W Accounting.
-A White Client engagement will be usually be renewed annually and provides routine accounting and tax support.
Referred to informally as “Owner Operated Businesses”, these will be earlier stage businesses that are still developing or experimenting with their product or service, are starting to establish a departmental structure, will have low levels of profit or cash after paying all staff and 99% of all decisions are made by the business owner or owners.
Yellow Client Business Owners needs to know someone has the accounting ball so that returns are filed on time, they have proper monthly reporting and can rest easy that the financial information they need is available and up to date.
Our engagement partner will meet with you for half a day to understand your business goals and challenges with a view to providing feedback on them. They will then arrange for your routine accounting and reporting processes to be reviewed (or if need be set up!) and then for Hodges and Wall Accounting to take on the routine accounting tasks. There is a standard monthly charge that includes up to 5 hours per month of support.
Yellow Clients are further supported with a six-monthly half day review where goals and targets are assessed and reset for the next six months.
Referred to informally as “Owner Organised Businesses” these will have some successful products. There will be room for development or definition in the product range, be a decision-making body comprised largely or exclusively of the business owner(s) and have a developing departmental structure. However key roles will be dominated by the owners.
Blue Client Engagements have three stages – Foundation, Alignment and Growth. During the Foundation stage, which takes 3-6 weeks, the organisation is benchmarked to assess the state of readiness for growth and the best growth path. In the Alignment stage the recommendations from the Foundation benchmarking is agreed and implemented over a 3-9 months. In the Growth stage progress is monitored to ensure the organisation remains on the agreed growth path.
Blue Clients are usually supported by H&W Selection and H&W Consultancy.
Referred to informally as “Organisation Operated” these will have a product or service offering that is well established, a decision making body comprising some members who are not shareholders, a turnover likely to be in excess of £7.5m coming from numerous, large client or customers and a well formed department structure headed by Director Level individuals will operate the business day to day.
Orange Client Engagements follow a similar path to the three stage engagement process seen above for Blue Clients of Foundation, Alignment and Growth. The main difference though is that an Orange Client should be able to progress through the Foundation and Alignment phase more quickly and have enhanced opportunities to access investment.
As every business is unique no client fits exactly into one or other category and individual attention is given to the unique challenges faced by each client. The purpose of this system is to allow us to give an indication of the way Hodges and Wall is likely to engage with each client type.
